Aron Rosenthal is the newest member of the Waste Farmer team. As Director of Operations, he manages our compost collection route, worm farm and product development. Aron comes from a long history of community development. Most recently he spent two years in the Guatemalan highlands as a Peace Corps volunteer working on issues regarding sustainable agriculture and food security, appropriate technology, waste management and citizen participation. Previously, Aron was the Executive Director of a local Denver area NGO, Orbis Institute, dedicated to global leadership development for youth.

Aron graduated from the University of Colorado, Denver with a degree in Communication. In 2006 the university’s Department of Communication awarded him with the annual Distinguished Alumni Award for his work locally and internationally to create a more civil and humane world through effective communication — a tenet of the department’s mission statement.

In the community Aron is an active volunteer with the Institute of International Education (IIE). Aron has served on the regional IIE board and is currently the president of the IIE Young Professionals Advisory Board. In addition to coordinating IIE YP activities, he volunteers his time working with IIE’s two main programs — Fulbright and the International Visitors Leadership Program.

Additionally, Aron has a deep understanding of Chinese culture and history having lived and worked in China for a number of years. He is an avid fly fisherman, cyclist and reader. The main thing that gets him up in the morning is the thought that he is working to develop a more robust culture of local food production and little by little decentralize agriculture.
