Matthew Celesta joined Waste Farmers in January 2010. Matthew has a degree in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz where he focused on Sustainable Agriculture. His course of study included classes in Soil Sciences and Master Composting, On-Farm practicums, a Capstone Project in Integrated Pest Management, and work as a University groundskeeper. He brings the company a strong academic and “hands on” background in composting and bio-based energy.

Matthew is a former wilderness educator at the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) based in Lander, Wyoming. He traveled the country for a year with Stoneyfield Farms, the largest organic dairy producer in the nation as a leader of the company’s “Climate For A Change” tour, a partnership between Stoneyfleld Farms and the NOLS. The sustainable tour was powered entirely with used vegetable oil and solar energy.

When he is not managing Next Door Farms, you’ll find Matthew in the mountains — skiing, fishing, and taking in the Rocky Mountain sunshine.
